Maxine’s Tap Room, The Bar opened by entrepreneur Maxine Miller in an (at the time) wooden shotgun shack on Block Avenue in 1950. Beloved by locals near and far, Maxine’s caretakers Hannah Withers and Ben Gitchel, along with bar owner and Maxine’s great-niece Andrea Foren, hosted a celebration in honor of the milestone on Tuesday, March 18, 2025. KUAF was there to capture a few of the many stories of such an monumental event.
